Sigvaris started as a family haberdashery company in 1864, and many of it's family values are still applicable today - mainly because we are still a family business!
After almost a century of building their textile knowledge they were asked by Dr Karl Sigg who was a local doctor who was studying varices (varicose veins) to help make the first modern medical stocking which came into being in 1959.
Owing to this association we decided it would be good to give Dr Sigg more credit and we changed our name to Sigvaris (Dr Sigg and Varices combined).
Our start point is always to do the right thing. All our medical stockings are first made to be effective, then we make them fashionable, and we are the only company who truly makes mens and womens products - really anatomically shaped for the forms of the different sexes.
Doing things right hasn't always helped our business - for example it is a medical must to take the ankle size of a patient or customer to ensure correct compression - and this is what we ask for, even in flight socks, other companies sell by foot size and guess the ankle size.
At Welbeck Pharmacy we take the measurements as guided by 'Sigvaris' to ensure sure you have the correct size for you.
